What is the food like at St. Petersburg College?
Maintaining a delicious yet healthy diet is an important aspect to being successful while in college. Personally, I love the food that SPC has to offer on some specific campuses.
In my opinion, Downtown and EpiCenter have the best food options. They get their food from Nature’s Table. The Gibbs Campus also has delicious options for food!
Here’s a previous post I wrote about the food of SPC. Hope this helps!
Is college easier than high school??
To tell you the truth, it depends. What I have found is that in college the work load is less but the work you are doing is far more substantial.
In high school you might have 40 problems to do for each class for math, which means every night. This was my situation in high school algebra. In college, you might have homework of 20 math problems or a short essay answering one prompt. The difference is that, in high school, you did the same math problem over and over again. In college, all the 20 math problems are different and train you in a different term or steps.
What I’m trying to say is that it’s not that it is hard but maybe more challenging work that gets you to think more critically. If anything, you do have to pay more attention in class.

Who came up with the idea for this blog service? I think it’s a wonderful idea.
After I graduated I had the privilege of working for the summer before moving to DC in the Office of the President. The Communication Department told me about this idea of having a student who was widely involved at SPC do a question and answer blog to provide information to current or future students.
I thought this idea was brilliant since it is very different to hear information from a counselor or professor and then hearing it from a student who already has experienced some things and can give another student valuable advice. It is such an honor to do this blog! I can share all of my past experiences and hopefully help other students who are wondering about things that I have already figured out. It is all about students helping other students!

If you had only one thing you could advise to an incoming student, what advice would you provide for them?
My one piece of advice would be to enjoy this experience!
It is fun to be a college student. Although the work can get overwhelming and some course work might be challenging, it is also a time to learn new things and make mistakes! I cannot emphasize enough the privilege of being at college and being engulfed with new ideas, meeting new people and preparing yourself for the world.
What I found most exciting at SPC was the help, encouragement and effort to assist students in finding their way. The best thing any student can do is to enjoy this ride!
