Art at SPC

Art at SPC

How big is the arts department, if it at all exists?

Dear Miranda,

The Arts department at SPC is amazing. I actually started taking art classes early on and absolutely loved my experience.

I would say that Clearwater is the main campus that covers all the major disciplines such as Drawing, Painting, Photography, Ceramics, Design, Printmaking, and Art History classes, but art classes are offered in other campuses such as St. Petersburg/Gibbs and Tarpon Springs. What I love about the Arts department at SPC besides the professors are the facilities. I mean, they have a drawing and painting studio, a fully-equipped workshop, a photography and ceramics studio, a design classroom with super nice design tables and Macs with Photoshop all around. There’s even a Printmaking Studio, which is rare! I know that there is also graphic design and animation, if you are into that.

So I would say that, yes, the Arts department is pretty big and awesome as well!

  1. There is also a large Art Department at Clearwater where the ceramics lab is located. Design, Drawing, Painting, ceramics and more are offered including Art history classes.

  2. When is the student exhibit for all art students including drawing and painting at the Crossroads gallery in Clearwater? What are the dates and requirements? I think it should be pretty soon, March or April, and it should be noted pretty soon as it may take an extra effort to get entries framed on time. Thanks so much.

    • Great questions! The SPC Student Juried Art Exhibition will be opening on Tuesday, April 7, and closing on Thursday, April 30. The awards presentation and reception will be Wednesday, April 15 from 6-8pm.

We will be accepting artwork Monday, March 23, through Thursday, March 26, from 10am- 4pm. If you need to make special arrangements, please call Tara Weld at 727-791-2548.

One thing I forgot! The entries can be turned in to Clearwater Campus, Crossroads 154 (CR 154). This exhibition is open to all SPC students, at any campus!

Check out the information and entry forms.
