During my last year at St. Petersburg College I spent time volunteering as a tutor at the college’s Learning Support Center and Writing Studio. I tutored both in Spanish and French. It was a great learning experience, being able to help students with their language classes. It also made me realize how much I love languages.
So, I thought, what better way to show my love of languages than for this blog to be bilingual! This blog has an option that translates all content to Spanish. So feel free to send me questions in Spanish!
I also want to emphasize how languages are a big part of college. As a student who is continuing her education in Washington, D.C., I have had the opportunity to meet and converse with many international students in their native language. Speaking another language opens many doors. You can meet people and travel abroad with more confidence, knowing that you will understand if someone speaks to you. Every language is different but, once you break the barrier of learning the second language, moving on to another one is so much easier.
I took French for two semesters just because I love the way it sounds. Learning a language is a great way to bolster your resume and give you a broader world perspective.
