If I can do it, you can do it!

If I can do it, you can do it!

When you felt like you couldn’t go on with school or felt like it was never going to end, how did you motivate yourself to keep going?

Dear Stephanie,

Every student can find a different source of motivation. My parents are my personal motivation. Even though my mom and dad do not care about good grades, I still want to make them proud. They have made so many sacrifices for me that it’s only natural that I want them to feel it was worth it.

I also want to do it for myself. My journey is not over yet. I still have to attain my bachelor’s degree and look forward to graduate school. It is a long and arduous task, but if I don’t do, no one else will do it for me.

Another motivation for me is the people who told me I could not do it. When I started high school, the principal told me I should give up on math because I had a low score on the CPT and SAT math sections. This made me furious. He did not know that I would eventually reach ace college level Calculus before graduating from high school.

Whenever I feel that school is too overwhelming or that I need to slow down, I look back and remember the little successes that I have accomplished. That class I passed or that test I aced. It’s all about the little victories that make life worthwhile.

Try and focus on those victories, and never ever give up.
