Sleep vs. Homework

How do you balance sleep and homework?

Hi Kathy,

It’s always a challenge to keep a balanced life, especially as a student. There’s so many distractions to keep you away from staying focused on school, but sleep is definitely important. For me, I like to have about six to seven hours of rest. Some people require more or maybe less, but I find I’m at my best when I get proper sleep. It makes it easier for me to work and study with energy and not feel so sluggish. That’s the worst feeling, to move slow as snail when you know you have an assignment due and the only thing that’s on your mind is sleep.

What’s really helpful for me is to keep a planner. My planner is my lifeline. Between working, school and family I have to schedule my day. It helps me to visualize my day so I know what to expect and how to plan accordingly.

As much as we hear this as a student, it’s so vital to limit procrastination. Procrastination is such an bad habit. No matter how long you put something off it’s still going to be there waiting for you. So, by planning my day, it helps me not to procrastinate and I know exactly how much sleep I’ll be getting.
