SPC One Card
For the Financial Aid Grant that is putting back on your SPC One Card, are you allowed to use the money you receive to buy anything other than school related items ?
This is an excellent question! A very detailed answer has been provided to you by Financial Assistance Services at the college.
From the desk of A$KFA$, “After SPC deducts the amount owed for tuition, fees and any Book Line of Credit spent at the bookstore, the leftover amount from your financial aid disbursements will refund to a student’s SPC OneCard. The money should be spent on education-related expenses. There are lots of education-related expenses that arise over the course of the term – from transportation to and from school, to clothing, housing, and miscellaneous personal items.
You’re probably thinking, what does that really mean? Well, you could buy gas to go back and forth to classes or even pay your rent. Remember that by signing the FAFSA, you are certifying the following, ‘If you are the student, by signing this application you certify that you (1) will use federal and/or state student financial aid only to pay the cost of attending an institution of higher education…’
We would encourage you to not spend the money on designer clothing or a high-end car. Keep in mind that if you borrowed loans and that’s how you are receiving a refund, you’ll be paying back the principal and interest for a long time to come. If you have received a refund this term and find that you do not have as many education-related expenses, consider lowering your loan amount next term.
Hope this helped!
