Studying smart

What is your number 1 study tip?!

Dear Brenda,

I have a couple of tips!

My number one tip when studying is that I must disconnect myself from anything that can distract me. I can get easily sidetracked, especially by Facebook and TV.

When it comes to studying in groups, this only works for me with certain subjects such as math. I have been known to hide from people when I study. As a matter of fact, when I’m in a state I like to call ‘full school mode,’ I will honestly scare my friends away. I try to literally, like the saying goes, ‘hide under a rock’ when I study, the rock being my books and notes. For me, this is the best way to get assignments completed in a timely manner.

studying 2Moreover, I am a huge note-taker. If the professor said it, it will be in my notebook. Many students do not agree with this method. My friends say it’s a bit severe, but it works for me. If I have written it down, I will remember it.

Also, don’t be afraid to exercise different methods of studying and figure out what works best for you. You will discover your own productive studying manners which will help you immensely throughout your college career.

Last but not least, keep hydrated and eat! There is nothing worse that studying with an empty stomach. You will not retain the information if you study while hungry or tired so do not do it. It is not how much you study, but how smart you study!

Hope these tips help!
