I plan on taking a math class during the summer semester. Do you recommend someone doing this if they struggle with math? I heard that summer classes work at a faster pace.
You are correct. Summer classes do work at a faster pace. The material is condensed due to the time constraint, and the professor will go through it pretty quickly. That being said, I do not think as students we should restrain ourselves from taking a class based on a fear. I know what it’s like to feel like you will not be able to handle something before it even begins, so my advice is always to see how it goes. You never know, you might even like the faster-paced classes.
If you struggle with math, then the Learning Centers should become your new favorite place in the world. When I started taking the easier level math classes, I also struggled with math. Honestly, the entry-level classes are more difficult since you are looking at the concepts for the first time so I was a regular at the centers and really benefited from the tutoring. There you can ask for tutoring help so that you can review the lessons you covered during class or simply find a quiet place to study.
