The Secret to Life
What is the secret to life?
What a deep question. Personally, I believe the secret to a good life is to be kind to everyone. To pursue the greatest good, be thankful, and participate in random acts of kindness. My grandfather would tell you that the secret to life is love. I agree, love is important, to be loved and most importantly to love others. This love could be for that special someone or the love you have for your family.
Socrates in Plato’s Apology argued that the secret to life is for us to live an examined life. He explained that “an unexamined life is not worth living.”
By this he meant knowledge and the search for the truth, and to always pursue these goods which are intrinsic. I would go back to kindness. Nowadays, I find that to be kind is an under-appreciated virtue. Nevertheless, it is a virtue that can make all the difference in your everyday life. In the wise words of my grandfather, the one who gives always receives more than the one who gets.
